Description

Deployments of small cell antennas, fiberoptic cable to connect the small cell antennas and electric connections to power the small cell antennas are expected to increase exponentially over the next few years. The deployments are being driven by capacity requirements, technology improvements such as 5G, changes in regulation and broadband funding. These deployments will increase the number and complexity of attachment requests to utility poles. A broadband provider deploying a wireless network of antennas and fiber optic backhaul may have to work with numerous pole owners and municipalities with varying pole attachment and electric service requirements. This session covers current wireline and wireless pole attachment and requirements, standards and regulations and the challenges electric companies and pole owners face. A focus of this presentation is the impact of deployments on utility operations and strategies to ensure that your broadband deployment on utility infrastructure are accomplished expeditiously and economically increasing speed to market and cost-effective deployments.
