Chad Archer leads AT&T’s RAN CTO architecture team. This includes feature roadmap planning for all RAN hardware and software. His organization also oversees the certification, testing, and technical development for RAN. Chad’s team is also engaged with RAN transformation projects like Cloud RAN, O-RAN, and SMO. Before this, Chad Archer led AT&T’s Long-Term Mobility planning including capital allocation. This included technical planning for RAN, transport, packet core, and voice core. In this role, Chad partnered with all of AT&T’s business units to optimize our network build and deployment. In Chad’s previous role as AVP RAN, he led a team that was responsible for design and optimization of the wireless network in Greater Los Angeles working under Dave Saska. Los Angeles is a very dynamic market and the team achieved great improvements in network quality. Before the role in L.A., Chad was the RAN director for North Texas. Chad started in telecommunications in 1999 with Centennial Wireless. With Centennial Wireless, Chad led RF Engineering activities for Centennial’s domestic properties. AT&T acquired Centennial in 2009. Chad has 22 years of wireless experience. He started his career working with analog voice (AMPS) and has worked on all technologies through 5G. Chad has an MSc in Telecommunications from SMU and an MBA from the Gies College of Business at The University of Illinois. Chad and his wife, Erin, have two children. Brynna is 28 and August is 21. Chad and Erin live in McKinney, TX.
